Equipment

  • Deep Frying Pan

Ingredients

  • 500 grams all-purpose flour
  • 100 g coconut flakes
  • 100 g sugar
  • 4 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups warm coconut water/milk

Instructions

  • Assemble all the dry Ingredients: Flour, sugar, active dry yeast, salt, coconut flakes, and also the liquid which is coconut water.
  • In a mixing bowl, add all the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
  • Gently start to add the liquid bit by bit until the right consistency is reached.
  • Cover the batter with a clean kitchen cloth or clingy film and place in a warm place to rise between 45-60 minutes.
  • Remove the cover, and by now, it should have formed bubbles, use your spatula to mix everything together before you start frying.
  • Place your deep pan on medium heat, add the cooking oil. The oil should not be too hot and not too cold. If it's too hot, it won't be well cooked and if it's too warm, it gets soaked in the oil.
  • Scoop the batter into the oil with our hand to form round balls, when one side is golden brown, flip to the other side until both sides are golden brown.
  • Remove and drain the excess oil. Your Coconut puff-puff is ready to be enjoyed!
  • Serve with any chilled drinks of your choice.
